The index's universe is the TOPIX, a key stock price index that shows trends in the Japanese market, and the weightings of component stocks are determined with a focus on the status of environmental information disclosure and the level of carbon efficiency (carbon emissions per unit of sales). Employing rules such as increasing the weighting of companies that adequately disclose environmental information and companies with high carbon efficiency (low carbon emissions per unit of sales), the index is aimed at revitalizing the stock market by spurring environmental initiatives and information disclosure across the market as a whole.
